OFA Good, Eyes Clear
Sire: BIS CH NorthStar's Siberian Express ROM
Dam: CH NorthStar's Crime of Passion ROM
Co-bred with: A Matos & C. Weatherman
Owner: Chris Stanley

  • Duke finished completely from the Bred-by Exhibitor Class

  • Owner/Breeder handled to BEST IN SHOW

  • Top Twenty Akita 1996

  • Sire of Champions and Group Placers

Duke was my boy (he was a BIG mommy's boy).    He and I completed a number of first's together.  He's from my first litter, he's my first champion from the Bred-by class, my first Best of Breed winner, first Group Winner and we earned our first Best in Show together.  Duke passed away on March 9, 2004; he is missed.

Sire: BIS CH NorthStar's Siberian Express ROM
Dam: CH NorthStar's Crime of Passion ROM
Co-bred with: A. Matos & C. Weatherman

Destiny hated being a "show dog", she preferred laying about and playing with her buddies, all of Fran's Miniature Pinschers.   Destiny looked so much like her dam "Scarlett" it was unfortunate that all attempts at breeding her here unsuccessful.  She passed away from bloat in 2001.

Co-bred with: A Matos & C. Weatherman
Owner: J. Grivas & C. Weatherman

Sable was Chris Weatherman's puppy back from Scarlett's first litter.  Sable finished her championship at 13 months old with very limited showing.  Sadly, she was never successfully bred, but has always been the best companion the Grivas family could ask for.

CH Moonlight's Que, a white Akita

OFA Good, Elbows Normal, Eyes Clear
Sire: CH NorthStar's Coors Silver Bullet ROM
Dam: CH NorthStar's Crime of Passion ROM
Co-bred with: n/a
Owners: Todd Cancilla & Chris Stanley

Que was an exciting bitch that I finished from the Open class. The judges loved her and placed first or second every time except once (a fourth) and I think the seconds were because she's a white.  Judges are seeing more whites now.  Unfortunately, she only had one litter and was never able to conceive after that.  She was spayed in 1999 and retired with my friend Todd.  Que lived to be over 14 years old.

At Ame's first show she won a 5 point major from the Bred-By class at the Region IV Specialty.  She finished easily from Bred-By.  Ame was the most fantastic Akita, a breeder's dream.   Unfortunately, sometimes a breeder's dream turn into a nightmare.  I had to say goodbye to my dear girl in June 1998 due to a disease called VKH.  Love your companions while they are here, sometimes their time with us is too short.

  • Group Placer from the Classes

  • Sire of Champions

Indi was OFA prelim Good at 7 months and 13 months.
He was OFA'd at 26 months old and received a
mildly dysplasic rating.  This is the reason I think
all dogs should not be bred until two years of age.
Preliminary health ratings can change, Indi is proof.  He was retired with the Brienes family and was a highly spoilt and loved companion.

Luke finished with four majors four point majors, proudly shown only in the Bred-By Class.  He was neutered and was my companion until I had to let him go at 10.5 years old because his rear muscles couldn't compensate for his bad hips.  He was truly the best and sweetest male Akita I've ever owned.   Born on my birthday, I always considered him the best present ever.  Luke was a lovely boy, inside and out--and I think his goal in life was to make me happy.  I miss his gentleness, his charm and his beautiful head (the face of the Moonlight Akitas logo.)

Zara was a lovely red female.  She moved like a dream, effortlessly, due to her balance and correct front and rear.  She earned all of her points from the Bred-by Class.  Zara was more like a Labrador than an Akita.  My precious Zara passed away at five years from tularemia bacteria infection she acquired from an infected rabbit she caught.  It affected part of her lung and her heart, my vet removed 1/4 of her affected lung but nothing could be done for the heart.  The surgery gave me another ten days with my girl.  She was the first Akita that I lost with choosing the moment to say goodbye, but I was with her during her last moments.
